MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Marc Marquez of Ducati has taken full responsibility for his crash in the 2026 Spanish MotoGP at Jerez, which forced him out of the race in the early stages.
The reigning world champion started from pole position and led the opening lap before being overtaken by Alex Marquez on lap two. Moments later, Marc lost the front at high speed and crashed out, ending his race prematurely.
The incident marks his second Sunday non-finish of the season, leaving him significantly behind in the championship standings.

“Yeah, I’m ok. Our race finished earlier, but we enjoyed the Spanish GP from Thursday to today. There’s nothing to say, just a mistake,” said Marc Marquez.
The factory Ducati rider explained that he was not pushing beyond the limit, but rather trying to manage the race with a realistic target.
“In those first laps, I was trying to control everything because I knew Alex was faster in dry conditions this weekend. My target was to fight for third or fourth place,” he added.
Despite Ducati showing improved competitiveness at Jerez, particularly through Alex Marquez’s victory, Marc acknowledged that the GP26 package still requires further development to achieve consistent performance.
He noted that his pace was stronger in wet conditions during the Sprint, while in the dry the gap to the leading riders remained evident.
“We need to keep working to understand where we can improve. The post-race test will be important to make a step forward, especially to be more consistent on Sundays,” he explained.
The result increases the pressure on Marc Marquez in the championship fight, as focus now shifts to technical development ahead of the next round at Le Mans.
