Marc Marquez has added another milestone to his glittering MotoGP career. The Ducati Lenovo rider now holds the record for the most Sprint race victories since the format was introduced in 2023.
After clinching the 2025 world title with a dominant campaign, Marquez has shown no signs of slowing down in 2026. Despite undergoing surgery for an injury, he returned stronger and immediately competitive. His Sprint victory at the Aragon Grand Prix last weekend proved historic, as it edged him ahead of Jorge Martin in this unique standings category.
One Win Clear of Martin
Marquez now has 20 Sprint wins, one more than Martin's 19. Francesco Bagnaia sits third with 14 victories, while Alex Marquez follows with six Sprint wins.
The battle behind the top four is equally tight. Marco Bezzecchi has four wins, while Raul Fernandez, Brad Binder, Aleix Espargaro, Maverick Vinales, and Enea Bastianini each have two. Pedro Acosta rounds out the list with a single victory from the 74 Sprints held so far.
The Demands of Sprint Racing
Sprint races require a different mindset. The shorter distance leaves little room for recovery, making the start and first-corner bravery crucial. In this environment, Marquez's competitive instinct has once again proven decisive. He takes calculated risks and maintains his pace to the flag.
Martin, who previously led this chart, now faces a challenge to close the gap. Bagnaia remains in contention, though his current form has dipped. With the next round at San Marino, Martin has a chance to level the score, but if Marquez keeps up his consistency, his lead at the top could grow even larger.
