F1 2026 Contracts: Every Driver's Deal Duration and Expiry

Formula 1 driver contracts remain one of the most intriguing topics in the paddock. Information about contract lengths often shapes speculation about driver movements in the future. Although full details are kept confidential, the duration of deals is usually made public. Here is a breakdown of each F1 driver's current contract and when it expires.

Reigning world champion Lando Norris has recently signed a four-year extension with McLaren, keeping him at the team until at least 2030. The deal is also believed to contain clauses that could extend his tenure further. Norris joined McLaren as a junior driver in 2017, stepped up to the F1 team in 2019, and became world champion in 2025.

Meanwhile, Oscar Piastri signed a new deal at McLaren in early 2025, tying him to the team until the end of 2028. The Australian made his F1 debut with McLaren in 2023 after a hearing with the FIA Contract Recognition Board to settle a dispute between Alpine and McLaren.

At Mercedes, George Russell is contracted until the end of the 2027 season. The British driver joined Mercedes in 2022 after three seasons effectively on loan at Williams. Russell remains confident of his place despite Mercedes' previous pursuit of Max Verstappen. Kimi Antonelli is also believed to have a contract at Mercedes running until the end of 2027, replacing Lewis Hamilton who left for Ferrari in 2025.

At Red Bull, Max Verstappen has signed a new contract that will run until at least the end of 2030, announced at the 2026 Dutch GP. Verstappen, a Red Bull junior since 2014, made his F1 debut with Toro Rosso in 2015 and was promoted to the main team midway through 2016. Isack Hadjar's Red Bull deal is set to expire at the end of 2026, having joined the senior team from Racing Bulls last winter.

Lewis Hamilton is contracted to Ferrari until 2027, with a three-year deal signed when he joined in 2025. Hamilton made his F1 debut with McLaren in 2007, took his maiden title in 2008, then moved to Mercedes in 2013, adding six more titles. Charles Leclerc, Hamilton's teammate, has signed an extension with Ferrari running until the end of 2028.

With these contracts, the F1 driver market is expected to heat up in the coming years. Some drivers like Verstappen and Norris have secured their futures, while others such as Hadjar and Russell are entering their final year, opening opportunities for negotiations and potential moves. Teams will be closely monitoring these situations to plan their long-term strategies.
