Isack Hadjar delivered a harsh self-criticism after crashing out on lap six of the 2026 Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, an incident that ended his chances of scoring points for Red Bull Racing.
The crash occurred through the tight Turns 14-15 chicane, where Hadjar clipped the inside wall on entry. The contact damaged the steering column, immediately compromising directional control and sending the car into the outside barrier on corner exit.
Technically, Miami’s layout—with its narrow chicane and rapid direction changes—requires precise steering input and minimal error margin. Even slight contact with the wall can lead to significant structural damage, particularly to sensitive steering components.

Prior to the incident, Hadjar had shown competitive pace throughout the weekend, reinforcing his belief that points were within reach, especially given the evolving race dynamics ahead.
“I finally found the limit. All weekend I was very close, but I made a mistake,” Hadjar said.
“It’s very frustrating. Breaking the car really annoys me, and I felt there were easy points available. I just threw it all away.”
Hadjar also highlighted how quickly the incident unfolded, with little warning before the loss of control, underlining the need for full concentration in high-risk sections of the track.
The DNF serves as a key learning moment early in his Formula 1 career, particularly in managing risk at the limit of performance. With a break before the Canadian Grand Prix, focus now shifts to data analysis and improving consistency to avoid similar mistakes.
