Kalle Rovanpera Confirmed for Rally Finland Return

Kalle Rovanpera and Jonne Halttunen have been confirmed for a return to action during the 2026 Rally Finland through demonstration runs on the Harju street stage.

The appearance was announced on social media after the pair had already hinted at their plans on Instagram on Monday. Rovanpera will drive the car on Thursday, before Halttunen takes over behind the wheel on Friday.

They will use the same Toyota Corolla GT AE86 that Halttunen has campaigned this season in Finland’s F-Cup series. Their appearance will not form part of the main WRC competition and will instead be staged as a demonstration on the city-centre super special.

Harju carries particular significance for Rovanpera and Halttunen after the pair claimed their first Rally Finland victory last season. The demonstration will therefore take them back to a location that played an important role in their rallying careers.

Neither Rovanpera nor Halttunen has competed in the World Rally Championship this season. Rovanpera stepped away from the series after last year to focus on circuit racing and had initially planned to compete in Japan’s Super Formula championship.

Those plans were later abandoned because of health issues. His Harju appearance will therefore give the Finnish public an opportunity to see Rovanpera back behind the wheel, although not as a competitive rally entrant.

Rally Finland will open with the Harju super special stage on Thursday evening, before the same route is used again on Friday evening when Halttunen completes his demonstration run.
