Charles Leclerc kept Ferrari on top in second practice for Formula 1's 2026 United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas, narrowly beating the competition with an impressive late flying lap.
The session saw Max Verstappen initially set the pace on medium Pirelli tyres after his earlier FP1 lap was deleted. Meanwhile, Kimi Antonelli spent time in the garage fixing a loose seat that he described as moving like crazy before heading out to mount a serious challenge.
When qualifying simulations commenced on the soft compound, Leclerc extracted maximum performance from his Ferrari to clock a 1m35.291s lap. Antonelli finished less than half a tenth away in the Mercedes, with Verstappen slotting into third place just under two tenths off the benchmark.

Behind the leading trio, Lewis Hamilton secured fourth position ahead of George Russell, who encountered a major moment through the high-speed Esses. Liam Lawson capitalised on tricky sessions for McLaren to place his Racing Bulls inside the top six, outpacing both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
As long-run simulations unfolded, Red Bull and Mercedes displayed superior average lap times compared to Ferrari. Further down the order, Carlos Sainz struggled with balance issues, while Alex Albon anchored the timing sheets following another troubled practice outing.
