Red Bull Targets Tom McCullough as Lambiase Replacement

Red Bull is reportedly closing in on a replacement for Gianpiero Lambiase, following the race engineer's move to McLaren. This would mark the team's second major overhaul in as many weeks.

According to German publication BILD, Tom McCullough, who is set to leave Aston Martin as Performance Director, is tipped to fill the void left by Lambiase. McCullough brings a wealth of experience, including 13 years with the team previously known as Racing Point and Force India.

The development is intriguing as Tom Hart had been the leading candidate to step in, after reportedly turning down an offer from Williams. However, those plans may now be altered with McCullough's name in the frame.

It remains unclear whether McCullough would take on the role of Verstappen's race engineer directly, or also assume the position of Head of Race Engineering, a title Lambiase has held since 2022. If confirmed, this would be Red Bull's second major coup, following the acquisition of Gwen Lagrue from Mercedes for their junior programme.

The departure of Lambiase to McLaren has fueled speculation about Max Verstappen's future at Red Bull. But by moving swiftly to secure McCullough, Red Bull appears determined to show they are serious about keeping their champion.

McCullough is known for his calm and methodical approach, qualities essential for working alongside Verstappen, who demands nothing less than perfection. His experience in race strategy across various teams will be a valuable asset for Red Bull.
