Indonesian young talent Veda Pratama once again demonstrated his competitive edge on the world championship stage by securing third position during the practice session of the 2026 Malaysian Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit. Facing track conditions that demanded high precision, the rider posted an impressive lap time that placed him firmly at the sharp end of the combined timesheet on the opening day of the weekend.
The fiercely contested practice session was topped by David Almansa, who emerged as the fastest after clocking a lap time of 2 minutes 11.427 seconds. Factory dominance and telemetric consistency proved to be key for the pacesetter in maintaining a slender advantage over his closest rivals throughout the official practice duration.
Second position was claimed by Riku Salmela, finishing just 0.069 seconds behind the session leader. Meanwhile, the Indonesian standout slotted in right behind with a 0.092-second gap to the top spot, highlighting the optimal speed that could be exploited through the heavy braking zones at Sepang.

The intense battle within the top ten also featured Danish Hanifah in fourth place and Alvaro Fernandez rounding out the top five. The incredibly tight time margins between the riders underlined the fierce level of competition in this season's lightweight class, where fractions of a second will dictate strategic grid positions ahead of tomorrow's qualifying sessions.
All teams are now turning their attention to telemetry data evaluation to find the optimal set-up for the upcoming crucial sessions. Track conditions and weather dynamics at the Sepang International Circuit will also play a pivotal role in maximizing machine performance.
