The long-awaited return of the World Rally Championship to the United States in 2027 has taken clearer shape, with Rally US officially mapping out a route stretching from the Appalachian Mountains to the Cumberland Plateau, passing through Nashville and Knoxville from August 26-29. The comprehensive event details were unveiled at the iconic Sunsphere headquarters building in Knoxville.
A major highlight of America's return to the WRC calendar will feature a ceremonial start on lower Broadway in Nashville. Music City serves as an ideal backdrop to welcome back top-tier rallying to the United States for the first time since 1988, when the Olympus Rally hosted the final WRC-qualifying event.
Rally US president and CEO Matt Crews, renowned for bringing the Music City Grand Prix IndyCar race to Nashville in 2021, is leveraging his expertise in high-profile entertainment to ensure the event delivers a world-class spectacle for fans and competitors alike.

"Tennessee is in the hospitality and entertainment business, and nobody does it better," Matt Crews stated. "When the FIA and WRC Promoter put America back on the calendar, we set out to deliver far more than a race – an event experience, from Broadway to the Appalachian Mountains, that rivals any festival in the world."
FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem emphasized the strategic significance of expanding the championship into the North American market, highlighting the region's passionate motorsport culture and massive growth potential for the sport.
"The United States represents one of the most important growth opportunities for the FIA World Rally Championship," Mohammed Ben Sulayem said. "It is a nation where motorsport is part of the cultural DNA, with world-class domestic championships and a rapidly growing appetite for global competition."
