Ducati Claims Aprilia Was Unlucky in Australia and Can Win Every Remaining 2026 Race

Borgo Panigale factory believes that Aprilia holds the full potential to sweep every remaining race this season following a dramatic weekend at Phillip Island. Ducati assessed that their rivals were simply hampered by poor luck due to extreme weather changes throughout the Australian Grand Prix.

Initial dominance was clearly visible when Marco Bezzecchi led the Noale-based manufacturer's charge during Friday practice. However, the scenario shifted dramatically when wet track conditions affected qualifying, allowing Marc Marquez to claim pole position before leading a Ducati podium lockout in the dry sprint race.

Nevertheless, Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi insisted that the sprint results did not truly reflect the actual pecking order on the track. He highlighted the extraordinary speed displayed by Jorge Martin prior to his crash, as well as Bezzecchi's stellar charge from ninth on the grid to finish fourth.

"I think that they've been unlucky because it's obvious that in dry conditions Bezzecchi was very competitive. He came up from the fourth row to the fourth position," Tardozzi explained regarding the impressive performances of their rivals.

"Martin made a mistake, but he was very, very competitive. I do not know if Marc was able to beat him at the end of the race or not. I think that it was head-to-head until the end, but unfortunately, he made a mistake," he added concerning the crucial incident in the title battle.

The fierce duel between Marquez and Martin at Phillip Island delivered one of the season's best battles before Martin crashed out on lap eight, sustaining a non-displaced radius fracture. Although injured, CT scans confirmed he does not require immediate surgery and aims to race in Sepang.

As reported by Motorsport.com, Tardozzi welcomed the news of his fitness and warned his team to remain cautious as the championship heads into the final four rounds of the season.
