The majority of the MotoGP grid are firmly against the idea of the Qatar Grand Prix going ahead as scheduled in early November, following reports of a secret meeting held at Phillip Island. Tensions have reached a boiling point among competitors regarding the viability of traveling to the Middle East.
According to reports from journalist Simon Patterson, a clandestine gathering took place on Thursday ahead of the Australian Grand Prix, bringing together all of the premier class riders behind closed doors. The closed-session meeting focused entirely on addressing safety concerns amid escalating geopolitical instability.
A formal vote was conducted during the meeting regarding the controversial trip to Qatar for the 20th round of the season. The decision to hold a secret ballot highlights the deep anxiety festering within the paddock as conflict risks in the region continue to compound week by week.

The publication confirmed that roughly two-thirds of those involved in the secret vote cast their ballots against racing in Qatar. Despite this overwhelming pushback from the competitors themselves, championship organizers have remained adamant that the event will proceed as planned.
Meanwhile, major television broadcasters are already taking precautionary measures by skipping travel to the Middle East entirely. Networks such as the UK's TNT Sport and Dutch outlet Ziggo Sport are adapting their production setups to broadcast remotely from home studios, bypassing potential airspace disruptions entirely.
