XPENG G9L Successfully Passes Production Tests at Magna Austria

XPENG has successfully completed the first production trial for its next-generation flagship luxury SUV, the G9L, at the Magna manufacturing plant located in Graz, Austria. The Austrian facility serves as a vital operational benchmark for the manufacturer, having already hosted assembly lines for several existing models while welcoming the G9L as the fourth vehicle to enter the production line at the same site. This significant milestone arrives exactly one year after the official launch of the manufacturing partnership between the two entities in Graz.

Ahead of its global premiere scheduled for October 12 at the Paris Motor Show, the very first pre-series vehicle is set to embark on a 1,324-kilometer road journey from Graz to the French capital. This real-world test drive has been specifically designed to comprehensively evaluate charging performance, driving dynamics, and advanced safety systems before the luxury model officially takes its place on the brand's exhibition stand.

This production milestone closely aligns with the brand's accelerated market growth across Europe. To date, more than 100,000 vehicles have been delivered across international markets, with over 60,000 units concentrated in Europe alone. In France specifically, sales figures have surpassed 6,000 units since the commercial launch took place two years ago.

Engineered from the ground up as a global vehicle, the G9L is slated for commercialization in 64 countries and regions outside of China. Its rigorous development cycle involved validation programs across 26 nations over a span of three years. The extensive testing regimen achieved remarkable benchmarks, incorporating 192 crash tests and more than 110 testing protocols, including complete validation for both left and right-hand drive configurations to meet stringent international five-star safety standards.
