Esteban Ocon believes Rafael Camara is fully deserving of his Formula 1 shot with Haas but remains adamant that he too belongs on the premier class grid for the 2027 season.
The 30-year-old French driver has known for some time that he will be departing the Haas squad at the conclusion of the current campaign, following the official confirmation of Camara's expected signing last week.
The Ferrari junior has been chosen as Ocon's direct replacement and is set to make his official F1 debut in 2027 alongside Ollie Bearman, whose continuation with the team is anticipated.

This development leaves Ocon without a confirmed drive for the future, and while his determination to remain in the sport is unwavering, his options for a full-time race seat in 2027 are rapidly dwindling down.
When confronted with the suggestion that this weekend could mark his final United States Grand Prix appearance, the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix winner firmly replied, "Don't say that. I’m coming here to do the best job I can, try and exploit the maximum amount of the car. As I said, I deserve to be here in F1."
Ocon pointed out that external circumstances rather than pure performance metrics are behind his current exit, highlighting an extensive winning CV across multiple junior single-seater categories.
"There are many circumstances why I'm not here next year, but they are not the performance reasons. I've won everything, in every category I'd done – in go-karts, in Formula Renault, in F3, in GP3, in F1," Ocon stated regarding his competitive credentials.
While addressing the arrival of his young replacement, Ocon maintained a respectful stance while reiterating his own value to the championship.
"I can't say very much. What I will say is that Rafa deserves a shot in F1. I think he's shown in the junior categories that he's very good. But I don't deserve to be out of F1 at the same time. So that's it," he added.
Ocon concluded by stating that his immediate priority is extracting maximum performance from his current equipment over the final races while actively working behind the scenes on a solution for next year. Read our in-depth analysis and latest updates on Sportrik.com.
