Max Verstappen Gives Emotional Helmet Farewell to Long-Serving Red Bull Mechanic

The Formula 1 paddock witnessed a touching moment as four-time world champion Max Verstappen handed his special race helmet from Interlagos to one of the most dedicated figures in the team garage, Ole Schack. This emotional farewell marked the final weekend for the veteran mechanic, who decided to step away from the sport after dedicating more than two decades of his life to the Milton Keynes-based outfit.

Ole Schack has been an integral part of Red Bull Racing since their inaugural season on the grid back in 2005. Serving as a front-end mechanic on Max Verstappen's car, his role demanded ultimate precision, consistency under immense pressure, and resilience through the highs and lows of the pinnacle of motorsport. Before overseeing the Dutchman's dominant era, Schack also worked alongside David Coulthard from 2005 to 2008 and supported Sebastian Vettel during his championship-winning years from 2009 to 2014.

His departure is not motivated by a switch to a rival constructor, but rather a heartfelt desire to step away from the relentless travel schedule and spend quality time at home. Speaking to Dutch outlet De Telegraaf, Schack explained his decision, saying, "I miss my family and I want to give something back to them, because I've obviously been a little selfish by being away so much." He added, "I'm proud to have been part of this team, through all the ups and downs. That final time will be special, but above all, I realise how much I owe Red Bull."

The departure of behind-the-scenes legends like Ole Schack serves as a powerful reminder that Formula 1 is driven just as much by human dedication in the garage as it is by the drivers on track. Two decades of unbroken service in the high-pressure environment of the F1 paddock cements his legacy as a true cornerstone of the Red Bull Racing family, leaving behind an inspiring benchmark for future mechanics.
