Drama unfolded at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace as race control issued strict post-race penalties to three prominent competitors. According to reports from Speedweek, Charles Leclerc alongside Kimi Antonelli and Oliver Bearman were handed five-second time penalties after the checkered flag dropped. The crucial decisions were finalized by the panel of stewards including Nish Shetty, Loic Bacquelaine, Vitantonio Liuzzi, and Felipe Maluhy following a thorough investigation into multiple controversial incidents.

The heaviest blow was absorbed by the Scuderia Ferrari star. The Monegasque driver saw his race result compromised as the five-second addition dropped him from seventh down to eighth place in the final classification. This sanction stemmed directly from a wheel-to-wheel clash at Turn 12 involving Liam Lawson, with the stewards concluding that the Ferrari driver gained an unfair advantage through the avoidable contact.

During the post-race inquiry, intense arguments were presented to the officials. The Racing Bulls driver reported that his rear-left wheel rim sustained structural damage from the impact, whereas the Ferrari contender argued it was merely a minor brush. Upon reviewing the evidence, the stewards determined that the New Zealander was entitled to the corner line, placing full responsibility on the red car to execute a clean maneuver.

Nevertheless, the governing body took difficult track conditions and the relatively light nature of the contact into account as mitigating circumstances. This balanced judgment spared the Ferrari pilot from a harsher ten-second sanction. Meanwhile, separate pit lane infractions caught the attention of the stewards regarding both the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team charger and the young Haas representative.

Both drivers received five-second penalties for unsafe releases orchestrated by their respective pit crews. The Mercedes prodigy experienced a close shave in the pit lane alongside Franco Colapinto, while the Haas rookie was waved out into the path of oncoming traffic as the Ferrari approached. Fortunately for them, the penalties did not alter their final race positions as they held comfortable gaps over their pursuers, allowing the Mercedes youngster to retain fifth and his British counterpart to stay seventeenth.
