MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Massimo Rivola and Aprilia Racing face a new internal challenge following their dominant 1-2 finish at the 2026 Brazil MotoGP led by Marco Bezzecchi ahead of Jorge Martin.
The result not only secured a race victory but also elevated Aprilia to the top of the riders’, teams’, and constructors’ standings. Bezzecchi now holds an 11-point lead over Martin, who celebrated his first podiums with Aprilia after finishing third in the sprint and second in the grand prix, underlining a strong adaptation to the RS-GP package.
Martin’s performance trajectory has become a key factor in Aprilia’s early-season strength. Despite limited mileage on the bike compared to his rivals, the Spanish rider has shown rapid improvement in race pace, tyre management, and braking stability. His fourth-place finish in Thailand followed by a double podium in Brazil highlights a consistent upward trend.

“I think Jorge still has some margin to improve because of the low mileage he has done on this bike.”
“I know that I will have a problem having two such fast riders.”
Rivola openly acknowledged that Aprilia’s success could create internal complexity in managing its rider line-up. With both riders emerging as genuine title contenders, strategic alignment and race management could become increasingly delicate as the championship progresses.
“We will have to manage it soon. It’s good that we have that kind of level of rider.”
“I chose that line-up for a reason and I hope I will be good enough to manage them.”
At the same time, Rivola remains cautious about Aprilia’s current position despite securing four consecutive race wins dating back to the end of last season. He stressed that the championship is still in an early phase and that the underwhelming start from Ducati Lenovo Team should not be taken as a long-term indicator of competitive order.
He also pointed to upcoming regulation changes that could reshape the competitive landscape, reinforcing the need for continued technical development. The RS-GP package is currently viewed as competitive, supported by a strong technical structure in Noale and an increasingly cohesive team performance.
Aprilia now enters a critical phase where sustaining momentum must be balanced with managing intra-team dynamics, with the next round of the 2026 MotoGP season expected to further define its championship credentials.
