Jack Doohan's European Le Mans Series campaign with Nielsen Racing has come to an early end. The Australian will miss the final two rounds at Silverstone and Portimao due to scheduling changes, leaving the team to bring in Jack Aitken as his replacement.
The news arrives just days after Doohan served as Haas' reserve driver at the Italian Grand Prix, fueling speculation about his future priorities. Despite a solid season alongside Roy Nissany and Edward Pearson—including a season-best fifth at Imola—Doohan's calendar no longer aligns with the team's remaining races.
Aitken Returns to ELMS
Aitken, a regular in IMSA and the FIA WEC with Cadillac's Hypercar program since 2023, will make his first ELMS start since 2022. He joins the #24 Oreca 07 for the four-hour Silverstone race on September 13, bringing valuable experience to the squad.
Nielsen Racing expressed gratitude for Doohan's contributions. "We are delighted to welcome Jack Aitken for Silverstone. Unfortunately, Jack Doohan can no longer race due to calendar changes. Thanks Jack, it's been a blast," a team statement read.
