Veda Pratama etched his name into motorsport history books by securing a stunning pole position in the Moto3 qualifying session at the Phillip Island circuit. Riding for Honda Team Asia, the talented rider clocked a sensational lap time of 1:35.299 on his eighth lap during a tense and dramatic finish. This milestone marks his career-first pole position of the season and serves as the first time an Indonesian rider has ever taken a Grand Prix pole position.
The second qualifying session unfolded under tricky track conditions as the asphalt was not one hundred percent dry, featuring several damp patches that demanded absolute precision and bravery. Joel Kelso had largely dominated the second leg of the session before a late flurry of improvements shook up the timesheets in the dying moments of the qualifying battle.
Reflecting on his historic achievement, the Indonesian rider admitted he did not expect the breakthrough on his final lap. He simply tried to keep his focus and continued pushing hard until the very end. Upon crossing the finish line and seeing his name at the top of the timing screen, the overwhelming joy of the accomplishment set in as he prepared for tomorrow's race.

Right behind the pole-sitter, Maximo Quiles put in a phenomenal effort for the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team to claim second on the grid. The young Spanish rider finished a mere 0.021 seconds adrift of the benchmark time, while home favorite Joel Kelso ultimately slotted into third place after leading much of the earlier proceedings.
Attention now turns to Sunday morning's Moto3 race at the Australian Grand Prix, which gets underway at 11:00 AM AEDT. With such a competitive and tightly packed front row, fans can expect a thrilling battle from the moment the lights go out.
