Fabio Di Giannantonio delivered a commanding performance to top the MotoGP warm-up session at the Lusail International Circuit. The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team rider clocked a lap time of 1:52.281, proving his pace despite the challenging track conditions with asphalt temperatures soaring to 45 degrees Celsius.
The ten-minute session unfolded against a somber backdrop in the paddock. Francesco Bagnaia of the Ducati Lenovo Team was absent after a heavy crash during Saturday's Sprint. Bagnaia sustained two fractures in his right foot and has returned to Italy for surgery. With the Yamaha factory team also absent this weekend, the grid for this 20th round of the 2026 season remains noticeably thin.
Despite the absences, the rivalry at the front remains intense. Marco Bezzecchi secured the second-fastest time, trailing by 0.505 seconds, followed by Enea Bastianini, who is racing for Red Bull KTM Tech3, in third. Marc Marquez rounded out the top five, appearing cautious as he fine-tuned his machine for the full 22-lap main event later today.

Technical gremlins plagued the Honda camp, marking a difficult morning for the manufacturer. Both Diogo Moreira and substitute rider Jake Dixon encountered engine issues that resulted in plumes of smoke, forcing them to park their bikes on the side of the track. These recurring mechanical problems highlight the ongoing struggles for the team as they look towards the final two rounds of the calendar.
The session also saw a heart-stopping moment for Jorge Martin, who narrowly avoided a crash at turn 5. As the tension in the paddock rises, all eyes are now on the main race. With injury concerns and championship standings hanging in the balance, the atmosphere at the circuit is as heavy as the desert heat.
