F1 2025 Contract Dispute: Inside the Legal Battle of Minardi and Antonelli

The high-stakes legal battle surrounding Andrea Kimi Antonelli and his former management team has escalated ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship. Attorney Mattia Grassani, representing Giovanni Minardi, has publicly highlighted clear contractual breaches following the young driver's sudden promotion to the premier class with Mercedes.

The controversy ignited when the prestigious German manufacturer decided to award its coveted race seat to the Italian teenager. Following the announcement, the Bologna-born driver unilaterally terminated his long-standing agreement with Minardi Management, a partnership that began back in 2014 after initial karting discoveries in Sarno and successfully guided him through the junior motorsport categories all the way to the pinnacle of single-seaters.

The Civil Court of Bologna recently ordered both the driver and the Brackley-based squad to submit official copies of all signed contracts and financial documentation. The civil lawsuit, originally filed in July, centers around alleged unpaid commissions, with reports indicating a demand for a percentage ranging between ten and twenty percent of past and future earnings.

Speaking to Ansa, Mattia Grassani outlined the exact demands of his client while confirming the next court hearing scheduled for November 19. The legal representative emphasized a willingness to engage in serious conciliation once the financial records provide a clear magnitude of the manager's accrued rights under the prematurely severed agreement.

Grassani firmly reiterated that “the breach of contract by the driver is already evident from the documents produced,” stressing that the original representation agreement was unlawfully terminated before its scheduled expiration date in 2028, undermining the foundational years of discovery and career development.
