MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Diogo Moreira of LCR Honda has unveiled a special tribute helmet dedicated to Ayrton Senna ahead of the 2026 Brazilian Grand Prix, marking a significant moment in his first MotoGP appearance on home soil.

MotoGP returns to Brazil for the first time in over two decades on 20–22 March, with the event taking place at the Goiania circuit, which was renamed in honour of the three-time Formula 1 World Champion following his death in 1994. The historical and emotional context adds further weight to Moreira’s home race debut in the premier class.

Moreira explained that the helmet design draws directly from Senna’s legacy, incorporating classic visual elements along with a depiction of Senna’s face on the top section of the helmet.

“For me, Senna is like a hero,” Moreira said.

“I made a special helmet for my home Grand Prix, and it’s a classic design. On the top, we have his face, and for me it’s an honour to wear this helmet.”

He also highlighted the parallels between Senna’s career path and his own, particularly the journey from Brazil to Europe in pursuit of professional racing success.

“For me, and also for Brazil, he is a hero because he followed the same path as I did—going to Europe and starting his career there,” he explained.

“I want to follow that path. He achieved so much in Formula 1, and now I am in MotoGP, so I need to better understand the bike and see if I can follow in his footsteps.”

Beyond the tribute, Moreira faces heightened attention as the first Brazilian rider to compete in a home MotoGP race since Alex Barros in 2004. Despite the increased media and fan interest compared to his debut round in Thailand, he insists that the situation does not add pressure.

“It’s not pressure,” he said.

“I like seeing my face at the airport and around the city. It’s nice to have this in Brazil.”

He emphasised that maintaining focus on performance and teamwork remains his priority throughout the race weekend.

“I will try to stay calm during the weekend, enjoy it, and work with the team. We need to stay focused and try to forget everything else.”

From a performance standpoint, Moreira made a solid start to his MotoGP career by scoring points on debut in Thailand, finishing 13th and just over five seconds behind the leading Honda rider Luca Marini in 10th place. That result provides a stable baseline as he continues adapting to the demands of the premier class.

The Brazilian Grand Prix now represents a critical next step for Moreira, combining technical challenges with the expectations of a home crowd. With the symbolic significance of the Senna tribute helmet, he enters the weekend carrying both national pride and personal motivation to deliver a competitive performance.
