Marco Bezzecchi bounced back brilliantly from an earlier crash to set the pace during Friday's Practice session at the Australian Grand Prix, establishing the Noale manufacturer as the early benchmark at Phillip Island.
Fresh off his impressive victory in Indonesia a fortnight ago, the Italian rider stormed to the top of the timesheets with a blistering lap of 1m26.775s, edging out Trackhouse satellite rider Raul Fernandez by just under a tenth of a second.
The hour-long session was heavily disrupted, featuring two red flag stoppages. The first occurred inside the opening ten minutes when Bezzecchi collided with the rear of Alex Marquez's machine at Turn 4, shedding significant bodywork before sliding into the gravel trap. A second stoppage followed shortly after due to wildlife wandering onto the circuit.

As the track reopened and the final 20-minute time attack commenced on soft rear tires, the hierarchy shifted rapidly. Several riders traded fast laps before the RS-GP machines asserted their dominance in the dying moments of the session.
Bezzecchi's stellar benchmark remained unbeaten as the chequered flag waved, capping off a remarkable day for the factory squad as championship contenders look ahead to a crucial qualifying day.
