The atmosphere under the floodlights of the Lusail International Circuit seems to have acted as a catalyst for Pecco Bagnaia's resurgence. After a series of pressure-filled weekends and performances far below expectations following the summer break, the Ducati Lenovo Team stalwart finally rediscovered his natural rhythm during the 2026 MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix practice session.

Bagnaia concluded Friday's session in fourth place overall. This result brings a breath of fresh air to the Italian factory team, especially after the two-time world champion made controversial comments regarding his bike's performance dip following the Malaysian GP. Now, he admits he feels like a factory rider again.
"I want to enjoy going fast," Bagnaia told the media. "Being in a factory team and suffering like I did in the last grand prix was tough. Here I feel like a factory rider again, and I want to use all that potential to contribute to the team."

This transformation is no coincidence. The characteristics of the Lusail circuit, which features high grip levels and a layout that suits his riding style, were key factors. Bagnaia revealed that this is the best feeling he has had on a bike since the Czech Grand Prix, where he won the sprint and stood on the podium in the main race.
"I enjoyed riding today. I kind of expected it, both because of the track layout, the grip, and the asphalt," he added. While admitting his feeling on the bike isn't exactly where he wants it to be yet, Bagnaia feels he is close. "It's much easier to go in certain directions this way because you have a clear idea in your head and you know what to tell the team. When you're suffering, you just try things out. Today I knew exactly what was happening."
Bagnaia's resurgence is a crucial subplot amidst Marc Marquez's pursuit of the world title. With Bagnaia's form returning, the competition for the remainder of the 2026 season is set to intensify, promising a much more competitive spectacle for fans.
