Celebrations are well underway within the Mercedes garage after the team officially clinched the 2026 Formula 1 constructors' world championship. The momentous achievement was secured following a dramatic race at Interlagos, where Lando Norris mastered a late downpour to take a brilliant victory at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The commanding drive saw the British driver bounce back brilliantly from losing the lead at the start, claiming his third win of the season and his first visit to the top step of the podium since the Dutch Grand Prix in August. This masterclass performance set the stage for a joyous team celebration just a week after Andrea Kimi Antonelli wrapped up the drivers' crown.
With George Russell and the young Italian sensation coming home in fourth and fifth places respectively, the Silver Arrows extended an unassailable points lead at the summit. Mercedes has now amassed an unbeatable 652 points from 20 races in 2026, securing their first constructors' world title since 2021 and the ninth overall in their illustrious history.

In the battle for the remaining constructor positions, Scuderia Ferrari remains comfortably in second place, though their gap over third-placed Red Bull has shrunk down to 97 points. Despite taking the race victory, McLaren stays in fourth overall, currently sitting 17 points adrift of the Milton Keynes outfit.
Meanwhile, the drivers' standings witnessed significant shifts as Max Verstappen produced a phenomenal recovery drive to finish second, extending his buffer over the chasing pack. George Russell also managed to leapfrog Lewis Hamilton into third position by a mere single point in an increasingly tense intra-team and championship battle.
