Formula 1, Sportrik Media - Racing Bulls has officially inaugurated a state-of-the-art fuel cell facility at its Faenza headquarters, marking a significant milestone in the team’s sustainability strategy ahead of the new Formula 1 era.
The newly launched infrastructure forms part of the 14,500-square-metre Racing Bulls Green Energy Park, located adjacent to the team’s Italian base. The project integrates a cutting-edge photovoltaic plant with a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) system powered directly by certified biomethane sourced from local partners. According to the team, the initiative ensures a reliable and self-sufficient energy supply while reinforcing collaboration with regional suppliers.
The facility is expected to generate an average annual production of 4.6 GWh of carbon-neutral electricity. In addition to power generation, an integrated heat recovery system will provide thermal energy for the site, while the entire operation functions without drawing from the local water supply. The combined system significantly reduces emissions and environmental impact compared to conventional industrial energy models.

“I am thrilled to highlight our commitment to minimising the environmental footprint of our operations and achieving true energy autonomy,” said Racing Bulls Facility Management & HSE Director Enrico Fastelli.
“By forming strong partnerships with local suppliers, we’re not only reducing emissions but also driving innovation and growth within our community. By maximising opportunities for synergy with the local area, we’re fostering the development of skills and partnerships that benefit everyone involved.”
The project has been developed in partnership with Italian technology group Cefla, through its Nova Solution division. Cefla president Gianmaria Balducci described the inauguration as a symbolic step forward in long-term collaboration between the two organisations.
“Today, exactly one year after the start of our partnership with Racing Bulls, we are celebrating a milestone that projects that same vision into the future of sustainability,” said Balducci.
“We are inaugurating a Nova Solution by Cefla plant that is already up and running and fully operational. This gives us great pride to see how our history, made up of great achievements, is now enriched with a new chapter in which Italian technological innovation guarantees energy self-sufficiency to such an illustrious partner.”
The initiative aligns with Formula 1’s broader target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 and complements the 2026 regulatory shift toward increased electrification and energy efficiency. By investing in on-site renewable generation and fuel cell technology, Racing Bulls is embedding sustainability not only within its racing operations but also across its core infrastructure.
With the facility now fully operational, the Faenza-based team strengthens both its environmental credentials and its operational resilience ahead of the upcoming Formula 1 season.
