Zandvoort is ready to say goodbye to Formula 1. This weekend, the Dutch seaside circuit hosts the Dutch Grand Prix for the final time, marking the first sprint weekend at this track since its return to the calendar in 2021. For Max Verstappen, this is his last stage in front of his home crowd—and he has a clear mission: to claim a fourth victory on home soil.

The driver affectionately known as Super Max certainly won't want to miss this emotional moment. The 'Orange Army' support is expected to flood the grandstands, creating the party atmosphere that has always been a hallmark of the Dutch GP. However, pressure also comes from another direction: Kimi Antonelli arrives at Zandvoort as the championship leader, despite his form over the last five races being only the fourth-best. That means his lead could be eroded if he fails to perform consistently on this emotion-filled weekend.

Beyond the front-running teams, one name stands out: Aston Martin. The Silverstone-based team will bring a new power unit from Honda to Zandvoort. Throughout the season, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll have often been stranded at the back of the field, but after a significant aerodynamic package was introduced in Hungary, their performance has shown an upward trend. The chance of scoring points at this track is no longer a pipe dream—especially if rain falls, as forecast for Saturday.

Yes, weather could be a decisive factor. Forecasts indicate rain will hit Zandvoort during the sprint race. This would be the first wet session of the season, after several rain threats failed to materialize. Could Zandvoort finally be the venue that delivers the long-awaited wet drama? All eyes will be on the sky.

Kings of Zandvoort

History records Jim Clark as the most successful driver at this circuit with four wins (1963-1967). In the modern era, Max Verstappen has equaled Jackie Stewart and Niki Lauda's record with three consecutive wins (2021-2023). Now, he has the chance to add one more before the track retires from F1.
