Moto2 Britain 2026: Filip Salac Wins from Sixth on Grid

Filip Salac emerged victorious in the Moto2 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, converting a sixth-place start into a stunning win. The OnlyFans American Racing Team rider crossed the line in 35:01.869, holding off Ivan Ortola by just 0.303 seconds. Alex Escrig completed the podium, finishing third, 0.652 seconds behind the winner.

Salac's triumph was the highlight of the race, as he gained five positions from his starting spot. His consistency and race pace proved decisive, while Ortola, who started third, maintained his competitive form to secure second. Escrig, starting from eighth, made a remarkable charge to take his first podium of the season, showing the biggest improvement among the frontrunners.

Behind the podium, Daniel Holgado took fourth from seventh on the grid. Pole-sitter Izan Guevara had to settle for fifth, while Alonso Lopez dropped to sixth. Daniel Munoz finished seventh, and Deniz Oncu impressed with a charge from 21st to eighth. Barry Baltus and Sergio Garcia rounded out the top ten.

Several riders experienced significant position changes in the midfield. Manuel Gonzalez, starting fourth, could only manage 14th, while Mario Aji finished 22nd after starting 18th. Rookie Alberto Ferrandez scored a point in 15th, with Jose Antonio Rueda, Angel Piqueras, Luca Lunetta, and Taiyo Furusato finishing 19th, 17th, 16th, and 23rd, respectively. Unfortunately, Tony Arbolino, Aron Canet, and Collin Veijer failed to finish.

Salac's win at Silverstone underscores that race pace matters more than grid position. This result is a huge boost for the Czech rider and his team, sending a strong message to the Moto2 field ahead of the next round.
