Marc Marquez Welcomes Fabio Di Giannantonio Pace to Fight Aprilia in Qatar

The intense battle in the MotoGP paddock heats up ahead of the race weekend at the Lusail International Circuit in Qatar. Factory Ducati rider Marc Marquez has adopted a strategic perspective following a challenging opening day under the floodlights of the desert venue.

The multi-time world champion secured second place in the fiercely contested Practice session, finishing just behind the sensational lap-record breaker Fabio Di Giannantonio from the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team. The Italian rider's blistering pace instantly caught the attention of his fellow championship contenders.

Addressing the impressive speed demonstrated by the Rome-born rider, the Spanish superstar acknowledged the tactical advantage of having another strong competitor capable of disrupting rival manufacturers at the front of the grid.

“We can see that Marco Bezzecchi is fast, Jorge Martin is right there, but Di Giannantonio will also be quick here. I am pleased that he is fast, at least he fights with the Aprilia bikes,” Marquez stated to Sky Sport MotoGP.

Reflecting on his own performance, the veteran Spaniard evaluated the behavior of his Desmosedici machine throughout Friday’s sessions. Although he noted that the feeling was not quite as smooth as his dominant outings in Malaysia, he remained pleased with the foundational work completed alongside his technical crew.

“I am happy with the day, we did our job. We started strong in FP1, and during Practice we took a slightly different approach to understand a few other things,” he explained regarding the team's data-gathering process.

As the weekend progresses toward the crucial qualifying and sprint phases, managing tire wear and maximizing rear grip remain top priorities. With the championship battle reaching its climax, every tenth of a second in the desert heat could prove decisive for the final standings.
