The Autodromo Nazionale Monza is bracing itself for a dramatic crescendo as Toyota takes center stage for an internal championship showdown in the World Endurance Championship. With the Manufacturers' title already secured by the Japanese manufacturer, all eyes are locked onto the fierce intra-team battle for the coveted Drivers' crown. The intense rivalry highlights the final stretch of endurance racing excellence on the iconic Italian asphalt.
The battle for supremacy features the #7 GR010 Hybrid crew led by Kamui Kobayashi alongside Mike Conway and Nyck de Vries. They face a monumental task in hunting down their teammates aboard the sister #8 car, currently led in the standings by Brendon Hartley, Ryo Hirakawa, and Sebastien Buemi. Every fraction of a second in braking zones and apex speeds will be vital as Kobayashi's crew attempts to bridge the points gap.
Kobayashi, fulfilling dual responsibilities as a frontline driver and Team Principal for Toyota Gazoo Racing, approaches the weekend from the chasing position. The veteran Japanese star acknowledges that an immaculate weekend is mandatory, while data and telemetry setups remain fully shared between both halves of the garage to ensure fair sporting competition.

Shedding light on the team's internal philosophy, Kobayashi emphasized that no artificial constraints will hinder the racing action on track. "Our only remaining target is the drivers' title. As I mentioned during the previous event, there are no team orders from the management: the absolute rule is simply not to crash into each other and not to damage both cars. Aside from that, everyone will simply give their maximum for their own car. We continue to share every single piece of setup information and work exactly as usual," Kobayashi stated.
Addressing the mathematical challenge ahead, Kobayashi noted the strategic cushion enjoyed by their championship rivals. "Obviously, car #8 holds an important advantage with a 17-point margin, which is a considerable gap. We need to aim for first or second position to hope for the championship, while a seventh-place finish would suffice for them as a minimum target, giving them a slight edge. Furthermore, the asphalt at Monza is vastly different compared to our last visit in 2023, presenting a fascinating technical challenge for all of us. Regardless, we carry zero pressure and will hit the track to give our absolute best," he concluded.
