Raul Fernandez Recovers Speed and Secures Q2 Spot in Lusail

Raul Fernandez kicked off his race weekend at the Lusail International Circuit with a much-needed positive breakthrough for the Trackhouse Aprilia garage. After struggling heavily with physical limitations in recent weeks due to a hand injury, the Spanish rider secured a strong fifth place in the Practice session. This crucial result guaranteed him a direct ticket to Q2, allowing him to bypass the treacherous waters of Q1.

According to reports from Motosan.es, the most encouraging sign for Fernandez was not just the lap time on the timing screens, but the physical recovery in his hand which finally allowed him to ride more naturally. Although he admitted that he is not yet operating at one hundred percent capacity, the improvement has given him the confidence to push his Aprilia machine hard under the desert floodlights in Qatar.

"This is the first day where I can start using my fingers again. It still hurts and the ligaments are not perfect, but I can begin to use my riding style. I am very happy with that," Raul Fernandez explained when detailing his physical progress to the media in the paddock.

Despite the major step forward, his recovery still requires constant adaptation regarding how he operates the brake levers. While physiotherapists and team engineers advised him to use two fingers to reduce stress, Fernandez prefers sticking with a single finger because it delivers a faster and more natural response during heavy braking zones. This tactical adaptation paid immediate dividends as he maintained consistent lap times throughout Friday's sessions.

Securing a direct Q2 appearance represents a massive relief compared to the severe discomfort he endured during previous flyaway rounds in Malaysia and Australia, where pain severely limited his race distance. With the primary qualifying objective achieved, the focus now shifts entirely toward managing his physical fatigue as the high-stakes action of the weekend continues.
