Defending world champion Marc Marquez faced an unexpected technical drama during practice at the Lusail International Circuit when his bike suffered a sudden chain failure on the straight. The mechanical glitch sent a dramatic shower of sparks flying under the night floodlights of the desert venue, temporarily halting the Ducati Lenovo rider's rhythm on track during the ongoing Qatar Grand Prix weekend.
Despite the heart-stopping moment, the Catalan rider quickly brushed off the incident, focusing instead on his competitive pace as he secured second position in the time sheets, just 0.142 seconds behind pacesetter Fabio Di Giannantonio. Marquez insisted that suffering such a setback during practice was far better than facing it when it mattered most during the competitive races.
"The positive thing is that this happened during practice," Marquez remarked calmly when addressing the sudden chain breakage. "I didn't ask how many kilometers I had ridden with this chain, I trust my team completely, and they will solve the problem."

Attention now shifts entirely towards the upcoming qualifying sessions, where track position under the floodlights will dictate the outcome of both the Sprint and the Grand Prix. Marquez acknowledged the immense depth of the premier class grid, pointing out strong challengers such as Marco Bezzecchi who have shown formidable speed throughout the weekend.
"We started well, and by the end of the session, I also found a decent rhythm," Marquez concluded. "I got into the flow and now I have to focus to the maximum on qualifying, because today in MotoGP it is crucial to start from the front rowāat the very most the second row. It is clear that this weekend will be difficult because so many riders are fast."
