MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Marc Marquez has arrived at the 2026 Spanish MotoGP in Jerez carrying visible physical consequences from his high-speed crash at COTA, including a still-open wound on his right arm as the Ducati Lenovo Team rider prepares for round four of the season.

The incident occurred during opening practice at the Circuit of the Americas, where Marquez lost control at approximately 190 km/h after being unsettled by bumps. He slid through the gravel trap and impacted the barriers at high speed. The crash resulted in pain to his neck and back, while also causing an injury to his right arm that remained concealed under bandages throughout the race weekend.

“I hit the wall at high speed and have a lot of pain in the neck and on the back. I will be able to ride, but now it's time to work with the physio,” Marquez said at the time.

Despite the severity of the accident, Marquez continued his participation at COTA. He crashed again during the Sprint, involving Fabio Di Giannantonio, before recovering to finish fifth in the grand prix after serving a long lap penalty. The result highlighted both his resilience and the physical limitations imposed by the injury.

Ahead of the Jerez weekend, the bandages covering his right arm have been removed, revealing a significant wound that indicates the recovery process remains ongoing despite the extended break between races. The visible injury raises questions about the extent to which Marquez can perform at full capacity during the opening European round.

“It was covered before, and then nobody knows!” Marquez said regarding the arm injury on Thursday.

“I didn't want to cry about it during the race weekend.”

Marquez enters the Spanish Grand Prix fifth in the world championship standings and is still searching for his first grand prix podium of the 2026 season. The combination of physical recovery and adaptation to the Ducati package continues to define his early campaign.

With competition intensifying across the grid, particularly from Marco Bezzecchi and Francesco Bagnaia, Jerez represents a critical benchmark for Marquez. The weekend, alongside the post-race test, is expected to play a key role in shaping both his personal momentum and Ducati’s development direction as the championship progresses deeper into its European phase.
