Nicolo Bulega is on a mission at Magny-Cours: closing in on the record for most wins in a single season. After dominating Race 1, the Ducati rider now targets two more victories today to edge closer to Alvaro Bautista's benchmark.
Total Dominance and Pressure Behind
Bulega has been flawless all weekend, topping every session from FP1 through Warm Up. His 24th win of the season leaves him just two shy of matching Bautista's record—a realistic yet demanding target.
Behind him, Iker Lecuona felt unfortunate with the red flag timing caused by Tommy Bridewell's crash. However, his second place yesterday was enough to guarantee Bulega cannot clinch the title today.
Non-Ducati Riders' Dilemma
Sam Lowes secured his second podium in three races with third place, yet the British rider believes he lacks the pace to challenge the front two, finishing three seconds behind Lecuona.
Alex Lowes was the best non-Ducati in fifth, but he expressed frustration battling Yari Montella for fourth. Meanwhile, Tommy Bridewell will start from seventh after a back-of-grid penalty in Race 1.
Only 20 riders compete today after Tarran Mackenzie was declared unfit and Bahattin Sofuoglu suffered a concussion. The Superpole Race is scheduled for 11:10 local time, with Race 2 later this afternoon.
