Liam Lawson Rocks Austin Stage Ahead of 2026 USGP with Daniel Ricciardo Watching

The atmosphere ahead of the United States Grand Prix 2026 in Austin turned electric when Liam Lawson decided to temporarily step away from his racing duties to take the stage for a rare live music performance. The New Zealander headlined the Garage Sessions with Liam Lawson and Friends event held at Inn Cahoots on East Sixth Street, drawing massive attention from motorsport fans gathered in Texas for the race weekend.

What made the night even more memorable was the unexpected appearance of Daniel Ricciardo in the crowd. The charismatic Australian driver, whose seat at Racing Bulls was taken over by Lawson in 2024, showed up to support his former competitor alongside other paddock faces. Fans flooded social media with excitement upon seeing the heartwarming interaction between the two drivers off the track.

Lawson performed alongside his brother Marcus and two childhood friends, Thomas and Harrison, marking his first public music performance since he was 11 years old. Speaking to the media prior to the gig, the 24-year-old admitted he was experiencing a whirlwind of emotions before facing the live audience in Austin.

"I am feeling a lot of things. I mean, I'm excited for... It's a cool opportunity to do this with my brother and a couple of friends that I've grown up playing with," Lawson explained to reporters. Despite his racing pedigree, he confessed to feeling immense stage fright ahead of the performance. "To be honest, we haven't done this for like 10 years. And obviously, we never really performed, but we grew up playing together when we very young. So it's a cool opportunity. But no, I'm sh***ing myself, for sure.">

When asked whether performing live carried more weight than competing in a Grand Prix, Lawson offered a humorous comparison regarding the pressure involved. "Oh my God, like 10 times more pressure for this. I would happily get in a Formula 1 car and go into Q3 over doing this," he concluded. The lively event provided a refreshing glimpse into driver lifestyle culture away from the high-stakes pressure of the Formula 1 pit lane.
