Jorge Martin is reportedly set to work with former Valentino Rossi crew chief David Munoz when he joins the factory Yamaha squad for the 2027 MotoGP season.

According to Motorsport, Munoz will become Martin’s new crew chief after the 2024 MotoGP world champion leaves Aprilia. The move will take Martin to his third manufacturer and place him alongside Ai Ogura.

Munoz currently works with Alex Rins at Yamaha. He previously served as Rossi’s crew chief during the 2020 and 2021 seasons after being promoted from the VR46 Moto2 operation to replace Silvano Galbusera.

The change would give Martin an almost entirely fresh technical structure. Most members of his current Aprilia crew are expected to remain with the Italian manufacturer.

Martin currently works with Daniele Romagnoli, whom he brought from Pramac following his title-winning 2024 campaign on Ducati machinery. Romagnoli will remain at Aprilia in 2027 to work with Pecco Bagnaia.

Christian Gabbarini, meanwhile, will stay with Ducati and is set to be paired with Pedro Acosta. The arrangements underline the scale of the technical restructuring involving several leading riders ahead of MotoGP’s 2027 season.

The expected appointment of David Munoz would give Martin a crew chief with existing Yamaha knowledge and experience working alongside Rossi. Their new partnership would become a key part of Martin’s adaptation to the factory Yamaha project.
