The race weekend at the Lusail International Circuit brought a pragmatic result for Pedro Acosta after securing sixth place in both the sprint and the main Grand Prix. Rather than showing frustration with the outcome, the young Spaniard from Red Bull KTM Factory Racing maintained a remarkably calm and grounded attitude regarding his overall performance.
The hurdles for the young rider began during Friday's practice sessions when he missed out on a direct Q2 entry for the first time this season. A lack of raw speed on the high-grip Lusail asphalt, combined with technical glitches that twice disrupted his run plan, made the initial phase of the weekend an uphill battle.
Starting the race on medium tires, Acosta initially showed promising form by latching onto Marc Marquez before executing a decisive overtake on the third lap. However, the dream of a podium finish faded under the desert heat as a mysterious technical issue slowed his pace during the latter stages of the grand prix.

Addressing the media after the checkered flag, Acosta elaborated on the unexpected mechanical hurdle. "Yes, tire pressure was a talking point, but we encountered a different issue on the bike that made the situation even worse. It was a problem that appeared for the first time during the race, and we still need to understand what it was and why my lap times dropped," Acosta explained.
Despite the setback, the KTM star remained upbeat about salvaging a competitive weekend through smart strategic decisions in the garage.
"Even so, I simply did not have the pace to fight with Marc today. A fourth-place finish was realistically possible, perhaps even a fight for the podium, but I had to let Marc go. Honestly, I am not dissatisfied with how the races ended. I am actually happy because we made the right calls here. It was a gamble, but we managed to turn the weekend around," he added.
While his mathematical chances of catching the top three in the championship standings remain slim, the resilience shown by the young KTM charger points to positive momentum as the season heads toward its final showdowns.
