British racing talent Freddie Slater is gearing up for a monumental milestone in his motorsport career by making his official Formula 1 weekend debut. The Formula 3 runner-up, who is already confirmed to step up to Formula 2 next season with the Invicta squad, has been handed the opportunity to participate in the opening Free Practice session across two consecutive Grands Prix.
This major development will see the 18-year-old taking over cockpit duties at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez during the Mexico City Grand Prix, followed immediately by a second appearance at Interlagos for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Driving for the Audi outfit, this upcoming outing represents a dream come true for the youngster who earlier this year became the spearhead of the German manufacturer's young driver development initiative.
By fielding their star junior talent in these two crucial Latin American rounds, the Hinwil-based manufacturer will successfully fulfill their mandatory regulatory obligation to allocate four FP1 sessions to rookie drivers throughout the campaign. Earlier in the year, the squad previously provided valuable premier-class mileage to Paul Aron during weekend outings at Barcelona and the Red Bull Ring in Austria.

The announcement has sparked immense excitement for the teenager, who acknowledges that stepping into a contemporary Grand Prix machine fulfills an ambition he has harbored since childhood. The support provided by the German marque's racing structure has proven instrumental in accelerating his progression through the junior single-seater ranks.
Reflecting on the upcoming challenge, Freddie Slater shared his profound gratitude for the faith shown in his abilities. "Mettermi al volante di una monoposto di Formula 1 durante un weekend di Gran Premio e un momento molto importante per me, un sogno che coltivo fin da bambino," he remarked, highlighting that the experience gained will be invaluable for his future professional growth.
Looking ahead to his two-weekend stint, the British youngster emphasized that his primary objective centers on executing the engineering program efficiently while absorbing every possible technical insight. "Quest’anno ho imparato moltissimo e queste sessioni di prove libere con l’Audi Revolut F1 Team saranno un’ulteriore occasione per accrescere la mia esperienza in pista," he concluded, expressing eagerness to hit the track.
