Fortescue Zero Signs Dan Ticktum to Partner Taylor Barnard for 2026/27 Formula E

Heading into the new electric single-seater era, Dan Ticktum has officially committed to joining Fortescue Zero for the 2026/27 Formula E season, creating one of the most talked-about driver lineups on the grid alongside Taylor Barnard. This major career move follows the conclusion of the Briton's tenure with his former squad, setting the stage for an all-British pairing representing a newly formed entity built from the foundations of the former DS Penske operation.

Before locking in his future, Ticktum explored multiple avenues, completing a test with Lola and engaging in discussions with a prospective new Porsche customer team. Although Lola ruled him out following an August evaluation, terms were successfully agreed upon with Fortescue Zero. Backed by industrial giant Fortescue—which previously acquired Williams Advanced Engineering and rebranded it—the Kidlington-based outfit is primed for the upcoming regulatory changes under the guidance of Team Principal Jim Wright.

Operating out of the UK, the squad serves as Formula E’s official Pit Boost technology provider and is set to run Jaguar powertrains for the technical shift of the GEN4 era. Despite encountering early testing hurdles with the new machinery, securing two drivers who share three E-Prix victories between them provides the new entrant with proven raw pace. If the team successfully iron out early reliability concerns, the pairing possesses genuine race-winning potential right out of the box.

Reflecting on his new home, Ticktum highlighted the unique vision of the organization as a primary driver for his decision. "What I love about Fortescue Zero Racing is that they want to do things differently," Ticktum stated, emphasizing the sheer honor of helping construct a competitive racing team from scratch. He expressed profound gratitude for the faith shown in him and eagerness to repay that belief through hard work alongside management and engineers.

Meanwhile, Team Principal Jim Wright offered high praise for his newest signing as preparations ramp up for the upcoming championship battle. "Dan is a fierce competitor," Wright explained, commending his speed, fearlessness, and proven race-winning pedigree. With a blend of hunger, discipline, and uncompromising pace, Fortescue Zero aims to silence doubters and showcase its true competitive capabilities when the lights go out.
