Claudio Domenicali Opens Up on Bagnaia Struggle and Marquez Resurgence at Ducati

Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali has finally spoken out regarding the challenging situation faced by Pecco Bagnaia throughout the season alongside the stellar performance delivered by Marc Marquez. In an exclusive interview covered by Motosan.es during the EICMA exhibition, the Italian executive shared deep insights into the internal dynamics of the Borgo Panigale factory as they prepare to wrap up a historic centennial year in international motorcycle racing.

Domenicali drew a compelling parallel between the dramatic points comeback orchestrated by Bagnaia back in 2022 when hunting down Fabio Quartararo and the impressive championship turnabout executed by Marquez this season. According to the executive, both riders showcased extraordinary mental fortitude in overcoming massive points deficits. "In both cases we have seen tremendous tenacity, back then from Pecco for refusing to give up and now from Marc," Domenicali explained with clear admiration.

However, the CEO acknowledged that physical fitness played a significant role as Marquez initially struggled with the lingering effects of his crash at Mandalika before gradually recovering his peak form aboard the Desmosedici. He also noted that rival inconsistencies historically and currently helped pave the way for both riders to orchestrate their respective championship recoveries during intense title fights.

On a more candid note, Domenicali addressed the departure of Bagnaia at the end of the current campaign after the Italian rider and the engineering crew ultimately failed to find a definitive technical solution to unlock his optimal feeling with the machine. "There is a lot of sorrow for Pecco's situation, but there are things that must be accepted. There are problems that simply we have not managed to solve, just as he hasn't either," Domenicali admitted.
