Donington Park will present a different challenge for CPRL this weekend. For the first time in the team's history, they will compete in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) without the legendary Jason Plato in their ranks. A tough test at a crucial time.

Shocking news came after a sweet weekend at Knockhill. Back then, Cataclean Plato Racing (CPRL) had just secured their first BTCC victory. However, just two days later, the team reportedly went into administration and had to continue under a different name. This situation is a hard blow, not only for the team, but also for the fans who have idolized one of the most charismatic drivers in the series.

Plato's departure leaves a huge void. Not only in terms of on-track performance, but also in the paddock's buzz. The team, now renamed CPRL, also sports a new look; an all-black livery replacing Plato's signature purple. The mechanics are now dressed in black, and the team's social media activity is carried out in silence. All these changes reflect an atmosphere of uncertainty.

The question is, can CPRL remain competitive at Donington Park? Before this turmoil, the Donington GP circuit was actually expected to be more favorable to them than Knockhill. On their debut at the Race to Pole event in April, the Mercedes A35 Saloon they use managed to win thanks to a penalty for Tom Ingram. However, they failed to convert that strong performance into a Sunday win. Even so, the car's pace was clear.

Consistency has been a stumbling block for the team since their debut until Thruxton a month ago. But a series of adjustments managed to unlock their potential. Dan Rowbottom secured their first podium, and damper changes brought them a dominant victory at Knockhill—a track that was predicted to be difficult for them. Adam Morgan shone by taking pole position for the first time in eight years, then won Race 1 with Rowbottom supporting in second. Two more podiums followed, making the paddock optimistic ahead of Donington.

Now, amid all the turmoil, determination is CPRL's main weapon. No one is more motivated to prove themselves than those in the CPRL garage. The combination of Rowbottom and Morgan, who are both confident, is a valuable asset. Can they repeat their success at Donington? Only time will tell, but their fighting spirit should not be underestimated.
