Ross Chastain has voiced his frustration over Trackhouse Racing's declining performance, saying he's "pulling the fire alarm" to wake everyone up. The usually stoic 'Watermelon Farmer' opened up on the 'Racin' With The Boys' podcast about the team's struggles.
After a breakout 2022 season under the Next Gen car, which included two wins and a Championship 4 appearance, Trackhouse has faded. Chastain hasn't been back to the final four since, and the team is now winless this year.
Team owner Justin Marks acknowledged the slump, citing the leveling of the playing field as other teams caught up. "When the new car came, it was revolutionary. The first couple of years were very even, and that played to our strengths," Marks explained. But now, he admits, "We haven't been at the same pace as some of those bigger teams that have figured out how to fully exploit the speed in the car."

To address this, Trackhouse is evaluating its structure, investing in tools, hiring more staff, and focusing on building for 2027. Chastain, meanwhile, described the car's handling issues, saying it's inconsistent and slides both front and rear unpredictably. "I'm pulling the fire alarm," he said. "It's been pulled, and the sirens are going off in our meetings."
His comments echo those of teammates Shane van Gisbergen and Connor Zilisch, who have also complained about handling. Van Gisbergen has been the best of the trio but has been plagued by car issues. Chastain's urgency highlights a team in need of a major reset.
