Heartbreak: Landais Reveals Why He Missed Ogier's Finland Rally

The real reason behind Vincent Landais' absence from Rally Finland has finally been revealed, and it's a heartbreaking one. The co-driver for Sebastien Ogier opened up on social media, explaining why he had to step away from the sport.

Landais confirmed that his mother's passing forced him to miss the event. In an emotional post, he wrote: "For my mum, who left us far too soon. Her passing is the reason why I did not take part in Rally Finland."

He also expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support he received. "Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has sent me messages and shown their support during this difficult time," he added.

With Landais unavailable, Julien Ingrassia, Ogier's long-time trusted co-driver, returned to the hot seat for the fast gravel roads of Central Finland. Ogier sent his best wishes to Landais before the rally, knowing the personal turmoil his teammate was going through.

The absence of Landais undoubtedly affected Ogier's mental preparation. Reuniting with Ingrassia, who had not worked with him recently, added another layer of challenge. Despite this, Ogier pushed hard and was leading when disaster struck.

Their rally ended in a heavy crash while leading, with Ogier briefly losing consciousness before being airlifted to hospital. He was diagnosed with a concussion but discharged the next morning, returning home to Germany.

Landais is expected to rejoin Ogier for the remaining rounds of the WRC season, starting with Rally Paraguay on 27–30 August. Ogier has confirmed Landais will be back for all remaining events.
