Bulega Seals MotoGP Move with VR46 Ducati for 2027

Nicolo Bulega has finally confirmed the dream move he has been chasing. The WorldSBK championship leader will step up to MotoGP in 2027, joining Ducati satellite squad Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team.

The announcement marks the culmination of an unconventional career path. Bulega, once part of the VR46 Riders Academy in his youth, opted to stay in WorldSBK after his debut in 2024. The results have been remarkable: two runner-up finishes behind Toprak Razgatlioglu before becoming the dominant force once his rival moved to MotoGP.

Records have tumbled. Bulega set a new WorldSBK mark with 25 consecutive victories, stretching from the 2025 Estoril round through Race 1 at Donington Park this year. That kind of form has clearly caught the attention of Ducati bosses, who see him as a key asset for the future.

His sharpness isn't limited to WorldSBK. When called up as a stand-in for an injured Marc Marquez at Mandalika last year, Bulega finished 15th in both races. He has also tested MotoGP's new Pirelli tyres and the 850cc engine, proving his readiness for the premier class.

Bulega admits the move is a childhood dream come true. "I chose this team because I've always been linked to them. I was in the VR46 Riders Academy when I was a child, so I know everyone very well," he said. "Making this step with people I know makes it easier from a human perspective."

The decision also signals Ducati's intent to maintain its MotoGP dominance. With Bulega still young and hungry for wins, VR46 looks set to become a force to be reckoned with. Can he challenge at the sharp end immediately? The 2027 season will provide the answer.
