Briatore: Gasly's Monza Pole a Dream, Podium Within Reach

Monza has just witnessed one of the biggest surprises of the season. Pierre Gasly and Alpine shook up the established order by claiming a sensational pole position, beating George Russell by a mere fraction that sent a ripple through the paddock.

Behind the scenes, Alpine's revival architect, Flavio Briatore, could not hide his pride. Speaking to media at the circuit, he described the result not as mere luck, but as the fruit of mature teamwork and a perfectly executed slipstream strategy.

A Masterclass in Slipstream Strategy

Briatore revealed that the key to success was excellent coordination among drivers. He admitted to predicting this opportunity since the start of the session, even telling his technical staff they were just a small margin away from fighting for the front row.

“We did a super job with the slipstreams. Pierre did a great job, and so did Franco (Colapinto). We were there for the whole session and knew we were competitive,” Briatore stated.

This pole position is a strong signal that Alpine's revival project is on the right track. For a team undergoing a rebuilding phase, a result like this provides a massive confidence boost for everyone at the Enstone factory.

Dreaming Big at the Italian GP

With the front-row start, Gasly's targets cannot be underestimated. Briatore emphasized that winning is a dream, but he is realistic that finishing in the top three or four is highly achievable in Sunday's race.

“The dream for tomorrow is to win, but being in the top three or four is very much within our reach,” Briatore said. “When you have a team that is building itself up, a result like this is a real boost. It means we are becoming good and can work more calmly moving forward.”

The pressure now shifts to Gasly to prove that his qualifying performance was not a one-off flash. With full support from the team and a mature race strategy, the opportunity to make history at the Temple of Speed is wide open.
