A highly promising race weekend at the Lusail International Circuit came to an abrupt and disappointing end for Collin Veijer following a first-corner incident. Starting from fourth position on the grid after an impressive qualifying performance, the Dutch rider saw his Grand Prix aspirations vanish within seconds of the lights going out.

Telemetry data from the opening moments indicated that the young rider misjudged his braking marker at the end of the main straight. The rear wheel momentarily lifted off the asphalt under heavy deceleration, resulting in unavoidable contact with the machine of Celestino Vietti. The heavy impact inflicted terminal suspension and aerodynamic damage on his machine, forcing an immediate retirement.

Reflecting on the costly mistake, the rider did not shy away from taking full responsibility. "Of course I am extremely disappointed with today," he stated. "The pace has been really good all weekend and yesterday in the long run we did before the race we were also very strong. Even on the out-laps leading up to the race I felt quite strong. So yes, I was ready to ride a good race, but it lasted only one corner, even less than that."

He elaborated on the technical misjudgment during his aggressive overtake attempt. "I missed my braking point and hit another rider. Without that contact, I probably would have run straight off and could have continued my race. It was an unfortunate situation, but I caused it myself. For that I want to apologize to the team and everyone who stands behind me. It was a stupid and unnecessary mistake."

"Lately I have been trying to ride a bit more aggressive and improve myself in that area, but unfortunately this is also part of that learning process. It is a hard lesson, but we will keep fighting and we will fight our way through it again," he concluded. The zero-point finish leaves him holding eleventh position in the championship standings with 89.5 points, as Daniel Holgado secured a brilliant victory at the front.
