MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia Racing concluded the final day of the 2026 pre-season test in Buriram at the top of the timesheets, as the Italian manufacturer underlined the competitiveness of its RS-GP26 package ahead of the Thailand season opener.
Aprilia secured a one-two in the closing Session 2, with Bezzecchi setting a 1m28.668s lap, narrowly ahead of Ai Ogura from Trackhouse Racing. Beyond outright pace, the key indicator was race simulation consistency. Ogura delivered the strongest 12-lap Sprint average at 1m30.101s, while Bezzecchi completed a 20-lap long run averaging 1m30.454s, closely matching competitive grand prix rhythm under race-start conditions.
The combined Day 2 benchmark remained with Marc Marquez of Ducati Lenovo Team, whose 1m28.836s from Session 1 stood as the fastest overall Ducati time. Team-mate Francesco Bagnaia followed closely. However, the reigning world champion crashed at Turn 3 during his race simulation and concluded his test programme early after a medical check, leaving Ducati without a full-distance comparative long run on the final afternoon.

Aprilia’s depth was further reinforced by Jorge Martin and Raul Fernandez, both consistently operating in the low 1m30 range across extended runs. Four RS-GP26 machines remained within half a second of each other in average pace simulations, suggesting improved tyre temperature control and traction stability compared to the 2025 specification.
From the Japanese contingent, Honda HRC Castrol showed encouraging long-run consistency through Joan Mir and Luca Marini, while Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP with Fabio Quartararo continued to refine race pace under high track temperatures. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, led by Pedro Acosta, demonstrated competitive top speeds but remained marginally behind Aprilia and Ducati in sustained race averages.
With lap times approaching the official Buriram circuit records and race simulations indicating strong degradation management, Aprilia leave Thailand as the technical reference entering the opening round. Friday’s first practice session will provide the first competitive validation of the pre-season data gathered over the two-day test.
