The battle in the Hypercar class reached a thrilling peak as Antonio Fuoco claimed pole position for Ferrari at their home circuit during the 6 Hours of Monza. The Italian driver posted a 1:33.364 lap time in the #50 Ferrari 499P, securing his first FIA World Endurance Championship pole at the iconic Italian venue.
The Hyperpole session proved exceptionally demanding as teams transitioned to slick tires for the first time all weekend following three wet practice sessions. This sudden shift on a drying asphalt required rapid adaptability from every manufacturer in the Hypercar paddock, elevating the importance of strategy and tire warm-up procedures.
Disputing the top spot fiercely, Mathieu Jaminet delivered another phenomenal qualifying performance for Genesis Magma Racing. The Frenchman briefly topped the timesheets in the closing moments before settling for second place, just 0.096 seconds behind Fuoco with a 1:33.460 in the No.19 GMR-001.

Despite locking out the front row start, Jaminet admitted to a sense of frustration after traffic hampered his final flying lap. "I have never experienced this kind of asphalt, a very high grip before here, so a lot of things to learn quickly," Jaminet explained during the post-qualifying media pen interview.
He further elaborated on the missed opportunity, stating, "The car felt alright. On one hand, I am a little bit frustrated because I was ahead in the last lap and the Alpine in front of me went off in Ascari and I didn't have a clean run until the very last lap." The Genesis crew also overcame technical hurdles between the initial qualifying phase and the Hyperpole shootout, forcing emergency resets in the garage.
Further down the grid, Earl Bamber secured a strong third position for Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA aboard the No.38 V-Series.R. This performance locks out the second row for Cadillac alongside the second factory Ferrari, setting the stage for a fiercely contested six-hour endurance battle.
