The race weekend at Mount Panorama left the Tickford squad searching for answers, particularly after Cameron Waters struggled to find consistent pace. Throughout the practice sessions and the main race, the Ford Mustang cars lacked the necessary speed to fight at the front. Both entries missed the Top 10 Shootout entirely, marking a stark contrast to their usual competitive form at the iconic circuit.
In the race, Thomas Randle and Rueben Goodall managed the team's best result in ninth place. Even so, that performance was six positions ahead of the high-profile pairing featuring Mark Winterbottom and Waters. The inability to pinpoint the exact root cause of the pace deficit created a frustrating environment within the engineering group.
Speaking to Speedcafe, Waters described the weekend as a bizarre experience where performance simply vanished. "On Thursday we had some pace and the car felt okay, but after that it just didn’t fire off for some reason," he stated. Despite trying various setup adjustments across both cars, the team could not unlock any additional speed from the package.

While the Chevrolet Camaro runners enjoyed clear advantages on the long straightaways of Mount Panorama, Waters refused to hide behind parity arguments. Noting that another Ford ultimately won the race and others showed strong pace, he emphasized accountability and ongoing data analysis within the garage.
Looking ahead to the upcoming Finals, Waters remains confident that the Bathurst struggles were merely an outlier. With venues like Gold Coast and Adelaide expected to better suit the Mustang's aerodynamic package, the championship contender is ready for an intense conclusion to the season.
