The FIM Superbike World Championship season finale at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto this weekend is not only about the final races of 2026, but also serves as a stage for several emotional farewells. Newly crowned world champion Nicolo Bulega is bidding farewell to the championship, while the racing future of Alvaro Bautista remains uncertain.
For Bulega, Jerez holds deep personal significance as he prepares to leave the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati squad after five successful years in the paddock. The Italian rider reflected on his journey that started on the same Andalusian asphalt back in November 2021.
"It is very emotional, because this is my last weekend in WorldSBK and with this team," Bulega stated. "I think back to all the great moments of the past five years. Fortunately, there were many more good than bad moments. I will always stay in touch with the team and be their biggest fan next year."

Meanwhile, Bautista faces a pivotal weekend with Barni Spark Racing Team following a challenging 2026 campaign. The two-time world champion admits the season fell short of expectations, yet he insists his competitive speed remains intact as he weighs his options for the future.
"It has been a very difficult season. We haven't achieved our goals and weren't even close," Bautista explained. Beyond the rider market drama, the Jerez weekend also marks the final chapter for Pirelli as the exclusive tire supplier before Michelin takes over the contract in 2027.
