Heading into the final round of the 2026 campaign, Dutch racer Jeffrey Buis shares his exclusive insights as a regular columnist. The two-time World Supersport 300 champion reflects on his recent comeback struggles and sets his sights high ahead of the season-closing showdown at the Spanish venue.
Recalling the challenging weekend at Cremona, Jeffrey Buis admitted that missing prior testing sessions due to a collarbone injury put him on the back foot. Compounded by a grid penalty that forced him to start from the very back of the pack, fighting back to an eleventh-place finish was a damage-limitation exercise under tough circumstances.
Physical management played a major role during that race, as protecting his right shoulder placed extra strain on the left side. While muscle fatigue set in towards the closing laps, the absence of sharp pain allowed him to push through and salvage valuable championship data.

Looking forward to Jerez, confidence remains high due to previous testing mileage earlier in the spring. Although the entire grid knows the circuit intimately, the objective is clear: to bounce back strongly from the mid-pack struggles of Cremona and fight firmly inside the leading group.
Reflecting on his maiden season in the World Sportbike category, the paddock dynamic has evolved dramatically. With continuous technical updates rolled out to various manufacturers to ensure parity, the racing landscape has matured significantly since the opening round.
